Emerging visual artist Catherine Webb is set to captivate with her first solo exhibit in New York City entitled, "Everything Lovely is a Dance." Hosted at The Empty Circle, the exhibit will take place from April 6th to 26th, with an opening reception on April 6th from 2 to 4 pm. Singer and songwriter Jsigna will offer a musical performance.

Catherine Webb unveils a collection of new oil paintings that build a relationship between intimate portraiture, abstract expressionism, and landscape. Each piece contains immediacy and narrative, balancing dynamic moments with a striking awareness of the individual complexity of her subjects. Her artistic style, marked by the direct application of paint with a palette knife, creates a tangible dimension that teases the line between painting and performance.

Often referencing art history, the paintings reveal careful compositions with close attention to tonal shifts, yet her distinct and vivid palette lends itself to contemporary explorations. Drawing inspiration from her background and dedication to environmental justice, Catherine Webb's pieces resonate with a profound appreciation of both the natural world and human experience. Introducing Catherine Webb:

Catherine Webb (b. 2000) is a visual artist based in New York City. She recently completed her Bachelor of Arts in both Studio Art and Environmental Justice at Yale University. Catherine had her first solo show in New Haven last summer and has displayed work in group shows in Brooklyn and Manhattan. Last Fall, she was an artist-in-residence at the Sitka Center for Art and Ecology.

Catherine has an upcoming full-year art residency in Florence, Italy, beginning in May 2024. Catherine grew up in Southern California and is a citizen of the Cherokee Nation in Oklahoma. Catherine is committed to caring for the land and future generations. For Catherine, painting is a creative medium to imagine a just future for all people and is a practice to sustain herself as she advocates for change-making.

"Everything Lovely is a Dance" represents Catherine Webb's bold step into New York City's vibrant art scene. This exhibition not only showcases her remarkable talent but also her profound dedication to using art as a lens through which to view and improve the world.
